Barbara Seiler Galerie is an international gallery for contemporary art based in Zurich. The gallery represents and supports young, international artists, and explores questions in the fields of conceptual and curatorial practice. The gallery’s objective to provide a platform and initiate a discourse, talks and new forms of exhibition has led to projects such as a performance with Warren Neidich and neuropsychologist Peter Brugger, a dinner performance with Cécile B. Evans in collaboration with chef Anna Rose Hopkins titled sun adjacent and relating to the myth of Icarus and Daedalus, and a project titled A Very Special Dinner in which Fabian Lang, a young and upcoming chef created a dinner following the works and choreography of the exhibition You talkin’ to me?.
Founded 2009 in the premises of a former sex toy shop in Zurich Aussersihl, the gallery moved to a new space in Löwenbräukunst, Zurich’s hub for contemporary art, in 2016.
Steaming from the idea of creating a platform and reacting to the paradigm change in the art market, Barbara Seiler has developed a gallery sharing model for five galleries which went live in Löwenbräukunst in November 2018.
In summer 2017, Barbara Seiler started the ART CLUB, a private membership club for art enthusiasts. Aimed at people who are interested in but not part of it yet, the club offers the key into the art world by organizing events such as studio visits, art travels and master classes to connect members directly with the different protagonists within the art world.
